Ilkley Choral Society is a traditional choir, founded 75 years ago, with over 70 current members, and based in the lovely town of Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Together with our partner choir, Otley Choral Society, we perform large-scale choral works with around 120 voices. We usually employ an orchestra from the local area, and soloists who perform nationally. We engage with the local community in continuing the tradition of choral singing, giving opportunities for listening or performing.
The choir provides its members with a sense of purpose and belonging. We are very aware that singing together contributes to a sense of well-being, and has a positive effect on mental health and mood. Taking part in our concerts is a wonderful and exhilarating experience that’s hard to replicate elsewhere, and we are always very keen to open our doors to new members.
Membership costs less than £15 per month, half that if you’re under 30 and free if you’re under 18! We put on four concerts a year in March, June, November and December and we meet to rehearse on Mondays at 7.30pm in central Ilkley.
